Shrikrishna posts win in National 6 Red Snooker tournament

Chennai, Dec. 18:
Junior national champion S Shrikrishna of Tamil Nadu made a scintillating break of 69 in his first qualifying match and clinched the match against Shailender Dangwal 4-1 in the Phoenix Serene Spaces 7th National 6 red snooker tournament under the auspices of Billiards and Snooker Federation of India co-sponsored by Abirami Mega Mahal and India Cements organized by Tamil Nadu Billiards and Snooker Association,
Although Shrikrishna lost the first frame, he retaliated strong to ensure his victory in no time. G Prabhu, the runner up of this year snooker state ranking and Vadivel of Tamil Nadu white washed their opponents 4-0 in their first matches. Both the players showcased a mix of both potting and safety play.
Top seed of his group, Shahbaz Khan of PSPB shared the highest break of the tournament with Shrikrishna. Shabaz also made a break of 69 in the last frame of his match against Ramakanth to clinch the match by 4-1.
Former Asian billiards champion Dhruv Sitwala of PSPB also defeated his opponent Johny Feroz 4-1 in his first qualifying match to progress to the next round. MD Shoaib Khan eliminated local favourite S A Saleem out of the winning qualifiers into the losing qualifying rounds.
All the top players in the qualifying rounds like the senior national snooker runner up Pandu Rangan, Siddharth Parikh, Alok Kumar, Rupesh Shah, Bharath Sisodiya, Abhimanyu Gandhi, Divya Sharma, local favourites Shrikrishna and current 6 red state champion J Varunkumar are to be seen in action today.
